Dear Senitor,
I, am writing you in regard to the whiskey traffic now going on in our state. I do not know what can be done, or what is being done at this time, so I thought it best to write you and see what has been done, or what can be done, to stop this whiskey traffic inour stateat this time. As you know senitor we have the so called bootlegger at every door almost, and if I remember correctly when the 18th ammendment was repealed, the Government promised the dry States, protection from this harmful traffic. Now we have every thing but protection, as the so called Bootlegger, has the only protection that is the Government sells this man a Privilege License, to sell the stuff to ruin our homes and the youth of our great State, and I do not think our Government gets eneough money from this source, to pay the damage, and should give the dry States this promised protection.
We have some Sheriff's in our State who is today profiting by this great mistake, and making money overhand, at the cost of ruination of our homes, and as I see it our Government should stop the sale of such License, and cancel all outstanding License, as you know our State carried about three to one to stay dry. As it is today our people are being threatened, if they open their mouth, and some cases being burned out mysteriously, and we officers who try to enforce the Law are always getting some threat, from the bootlegger or his followers But we have not lost faith in our Government yet, and trust you and others will bring this important matter up before adjuornment, and give us this relief.
I trust and know you will give this your immedit attention, and I wish you the best of success,. As ever your friend, J.T. Wilson
P.S. I am not writing Pat in regard to this, as I think you are the proper one and understand existing conditions as they are here today, and I know you are a dry, and will do all you can to help your people..
