With practically everything else being rationed, limited or even banned, so far as sales are concerned, the average American wonders why the dispensers of the trio of through the 400,000 retail outlets throughout the country.
We Wonder Why
The liquor business is the one privileged business in our democracy. The list of rationed articles lengthens, but there is no hint that intoxicants are to be placed on it. We are told that our entire country faces a food famine, and yet the breweries must not be denied the grain so essential to their privileged business. It amounts to almost treason to buy anything that one does not need, but purchases of liquor must not be interfered with. Liquor is the only stuff in this country available to all without limit or restriction. Privileged? Well, it looks like it. We wonder why, and are really afraid to know the answer. -John L. Hill.
Mid-Week Service Wednesday, supper at 6:45, study period at 7:10. Mr. Adams will continue his discussion on the Vacation Bible School. Prayer and Praise service at 8:00. The Pastor will give an exposition of 3rd chapt. of Mark, the study of the chapter was omitted on account of the blackout. Lets have no blackouts in our study of the word of God, prayer and worship.
Vacation Bible School will begin June 14, Registration day will be Friday afternoon June 11. Teachers and Pupils, lets be ready and have a great school.
Study Period, was well attended Wednesday evening. The next two periods will complete the Vacation Bible School Guide. Chapters 5-7 will be reviewed this week. Every Vacation Bible School Worker should be here promptly at 7:10 Wednesday for this study.
The Church Orchestra, will soon be playing our Sunday Evening music. If you play an instrument see Mr. Adams about playing in the orchestra. The first practice will be Wednesday morning, June 9, at 10 o’clock.
Welcome Home, Students from Colleges and Universities. Your church is proud of your record and rejoices with you in your every advantage and accomplishments.
Graduates from Universities and Colleges in our fellowship include Bennie Smith, Mississippi College, Kelton Lowery, Annapolis, Billy Noel, U. Of Miss. Marion Davis, Blue Mountain, Alice Kathryn Ireland, M.S.C.W. Our congratulations in past achievements and best wishes for future plans are extended to these fine young people.
Our Guest Organist today is our own Miss Alice Kathryn Ireland who recently graduated with honor from M.S.C.W. Her recitals have attracted wide attention among accomplished musicians as well as general public.
Training Union Council Meeting will meet tomorrow night at 8:00. A full attendance is urged.
Honor Roll, the most recent names added are Jimmy Taylor, Walter Smith Jr. Miss Elise Norton, who joined the Marines.
