Dear Senator,
May I be pardoned for intruding upon your attention? A very
general serious serious condition of affairs leads me to think what our law-makers have been so engrossed with other matters that they have overlooked the fact that all the basic foundation [illegible] are being undermined for sake of revenue. Our homes are being destroyed, our boys and girls- debauched and meek ruin[?], are fast cornering in upon the most sacred precincts of the American people. Please kindly give the liquor traffic and its results a thorough investigation and then act accordingly. Every one of their [illegible] promises have been disregarded here, and our country is sinking disgracefully- all for revenue. Sincerely in behalf of all who suffer innocently from this cause, S.P. Crouch
